About the Role
What You'll Do
• Build genuine, trusting relationships with clients and collaborate with them to develop meaningful, personalized support plans
• Provide outreach and support in community settings — whether that's a home, school, shelter, or cultural gathering space
• Offer practical assistance with daily living skills, appointment escorts, housing navigation, and connection to community resources
• Share your own lived experience in ways that inspire hope and empowerment
• Support Indigenous youth and families with culturally grounded, trauma-informed care that respects and honours their traditions
• Assist clients with navigating benefits, entitlements, and services — and advocate for them when barriers arise
• Facilitate groups, workshops, and peer-led activities on topics like wellness, self-advocacy, and life skills
• Help bridge the gap between clients and community providers, ensuring no one falls through the cracks
• Maintain accurate, timely records and case notes using our electronic file system
• Educate team members on the real, lived experience of people with mental health conditions, disabilities, or substance use challenges
• Carry out other related duties as the role evolves
Requirements
Required:
• Past or current lived experience as a recipient of mental health, substance use, disability, or related services
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a recognized Peer Support Training program, Community Mental Health Certificate, or Addiction Worker Certificate — or an equivalent combination of education and life experience
• Experience working with children, youth, or Indigenous communities
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence
• Access to a reliable personal vehicle with a minimum of third-party liability insurance

Supporting Documentation Required

Ability to Commute/Relocate
Travel is a requirement of this position. The successful candidate must hold a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle carrying a minimum of third-party liability insurance.
