About the Role

The Postpartum Support Aide provides direct, hands-on overnight support to new mothers and their

newborns in the family's own home in the Sherwood Park area. This role helps families navigate the

physical and emotional demands of the early postpartum period — supporting infant care, feeding, safe

sleep, and household routines — so parents can rest, recover, and bond with their new baby. You will

be a calm, competent, and trusted overnight presence during one of the most vulnerable and important

transitions a family experiences.

Who We're Looking For?

You are someone who:

• Is genuinely passionate about supporting new mothers, babies, and growing families

• Brings a calm, reassuring presence to overnight care, especially during periods of exhaustion or

stress

• Has hands-on experience caring for newborns and supporting postpartum mothers

• Is knowledgeable about safe sleep practices, infant feeding support, and newborn care basics

• Communicates clearly, respectfully, and professionally with parents and families

• Is reliable and able to commit to a consistent overnight schedule across Wednesday, Thursday, and

Friday nights

• Is comfortable working independently in a family's home

• Support infant care routines including feeding, soothing, diapering, and safe sleep practices

• Support the postpartum mother' rest and recovery by managing overnight infant care needs

• Recognize and respond appropriately to newborn feeding, comfort, or wellness concerns,

escalating to the family and appropriate medical resources as needed

• Support light overnight household tasks related to infant care (e.g., preparing bottles, tidying the

nursery)

Family Collaboration

• Build a respectful, trust-based relationship with the family during a sensitive and vulnerable time

• Communicate clearly with parents about the baby's overnight feeding, sleep, and wellbeing

• Respect each family's individual parenting choices, cultural practices, and feeding preferences

Documentation & Communication

• Complete accurate, timely overnight care logs summarizing feeding, sleep, and any notable

concerns

• Document and report any incidents in accordance with BSR policy

• Communicate professionally with the BSR team regarding scheduling and any family or care
